The Canton-Hong Kong Strike Committee still exists in Canton and it is reported that the strikers who still remain
idle at present number about 20,000. The Government has promised to pay each of them $90 before the Chinese New
Year and to send them away at the same time. But on account of shortage of funds, it is stated that the Finance Ministry
has appropriated a sum of $100,000 only to be distributed
by the Strike Committee.
